Goodwill Find of the Week
10 Comments
Ok, first, I love birds. I envy them because they can fly and I cannot (without use of some dangerous man-made device, that is).
So while shopping at Goodwill for fabric to make my next batch of skirts out of, I found this adorable dress. With birds on it! And with a train down the back! The down side is that it is a size 6. With a zipper. Which makes it incredibly hard for me to make a skirt out of, even if I just hacked it off under the ribcage band. Plus, that would ruin the effect of the train.
I'm having a difficult time trying to cut into this little dress, even if it would make a cute skirt. I think it's just fine as a dress, but as it is, it does not and will not ever fit me. The last time I could wear a size 6, I was 6 (I was a very tall child). So it's doing me no good hanging on my dressform, mocking me, whispering to me at night "Ha ha, I'm so cute and you can't wear me!"
Any suggestions?
Found you in a forum thread. I'm a new follower. =) Hhhmm...Not sure what you could do with that dress. But it is so pretty! I'm sure you'll think of something.

ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE that dress - I am a total bird fanatic too !Can you rework the zipper or cut it above the "cumberbund" area ?????? It would make quite an awesome skirt....I am actually jealous LOL !
ReplyDeleteCute! I love birds too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the dress. It's very pretty. I don't know the first thing about sewing so I can't help ya. :/ Sorry.
ReplyDeleteMaybe rip open the side seams and add some strips of coordinating fabric to make it larger?

ReplyDeleteI is such a beautiful dress, but sewing is not my strong suit so I don't have any good suggestions. Good luck!
